Ropa limpia

Carla needs clean clothes. She is on vacation, and almost all her clothes are dirty. That’s why she goes to a self-service laundromat. The laundromat is busy. Most of the machines are in use, but there are not many people. Some people read, and others wait.

She reads the instructions on the machine: “Open the door. Put detergent. Insert coins. Choose a program. Press start.” She follows the steps one by one.

While she waits, she sits down with a book. The drum turns like a slow wheel. The room makes a soft noise. She turns the pages with her hand. She forgets that she is waiting. She is focused on the story.

The wash ends with a beep. Carla looks up and sees that almost 2 hours have passed. She is surprised.

She opens the door and smiles. Hot steam comes out. Everything smells fresh and clean. She puts the clothes into her bag and goes back to her hotel room.
