Summary
Summary
Veronica has just arrived in Rome for a four‑day business trip. Tired but curious on her first evening, she chooses a tiny corner supermarket instead of a restaurant to pick up water, bread, cheese, tuna and some fruit. The shop is a bit dark and confusing, and when she can’t find the bread she pushes herself to ask the shop assistant in Italian for help.
Guided to the right aisle, she picks a simple loaf, some bright red apples and a piece of fresh burrata before joining the queue at the checkout. After a friendly exchange with the cashier in Italian, she heads back to her apartment with her groceries and a growing sense of pride: if she can handle everyday shopping in Italian, maybe the rest of her Roman adventure will go just as smoothly.
