Summary
Summary
It is Monday morning in a small language school in Bologna. In a bright, simple classroom, students arrive for their first Italian lesson and feel a little tense. Their teacher, Maria, comes in smiling, welcomes them and explains that from now on they will speak only Italian. To break the ice she proposes a simple activity: going around the room while each person introduces themselves with their name, country, age, work or studies, and reason for learning Italian.
Through these introductions we meet Anna, a Polish nurse who loves Italian films; David from Canada, a software developer with an Italian girlfriend; Sofia from Spain, a history student who dreams of living in Rome; Kenji from Japan, who adores Italian food; and Emma from the Netherlands, who loves Italian art. The students make mistakes, but Maria reminds them that this is normal and part of the learning process. Little by little, the atmosphere relaxes, smiles appear around the classroom and everyone feels that this course is the beginning of a journey they will share.
