Summary

It's Friday evening in Verona. After work, Sofia meets her friends in the center; the air is warm and humid, and they choose a small bar with music and lights. From her seat, Sofia notices a man at the counter—dark hair, a kind smile—laughing with the bartender. Shy but curious, she keeps glancing. He notices, walks over, and asks if the seat is free. He introduces himself as Matteo and says he lives nearby. Sofia, originally from Florence, now works in Verona. They talk about the river, favorite cafés, little parks, and streets.

The music grows louder; they share a small pizza and laugh at little stories. The bar closes early; her friends head out, and Sofia lingers. At the end of the night, Matteo asks for her number. She types it into his phone and smiles. They say “A presto.” Outside, Sofia walks home under warm lights and quiet stars, feeling at home in Verona and full of hope.
