Summary
Summary
Leonardo grows up near Vinci, where the hills, streams, birds, and changing skies feed his habit of close observation. With little formal education, he learns through drawing and practical work before training in Verrocchio’s Florentine workshop. His curiosity soon carries him beyond painting into engineering, music, theatre, anatomy, architecture, mapmaking, and the study of water and flight.
Across Florence, Milan, Rome, and France, Leonardo serves rulers, designs machines and spectacles, and creates works such as The Last Supper and the Mona Lisa. Many ambitious projects remain unfinished or are lost, yet his notebooks reveal a mind that continually tests ideas, learns from failure, and turns every answer into a new question.
