Today I have a pass for a nature class. The class is in a small apartment near my house. At the entrance I show a card and say my name. There are seven people, and they are all seated. The teacher speaks slowly and uses drawings on the wall. I listen carefully and take simple notes. I like learning in a quiet place without noise. At the end I greet the group and walk back calmly.

In class we watch a short movie about the planet. The movie shows mountains, rivers, and many living things. Then the teacher explains a cell with a big picture. She says that a cell is very small, but it is part of every body. The screen is clear and everyone watches in silence. I repeat the words softly to learn better. I like to see the picture and understand something new. This way I learn step by step.

After that I get a message on my phone. The message says that there is a trip to the forest tomorrow. They also give me a letter with a big safety notice. The guide explains simple rules: walk together and watch the path. She talks about leadership in the group. She says that one person guides and another helps. Everyone nods and no one runs. I ask a short question and I understand the answer. Then I read the letter again and I keep it.

The next day we leave early. Near the path there is a construction area, with noise and dust. We pass quickly and we go to a quiet trail. There I see a horse behind a fence. On the ground there is a track, like a footprint in the soil. The guide says that it can be from a horse. It is windy and I cover my neck with a scarf. At the end we stop in a small shop to buy something and rest.

On the outing, I meet a new companion. He is German and he speaks Spanish slowly. We walk together and share a bottle of water. During a break we talk in a private space, far from the group. He brings a notebook and shows me drawings of plants. He tells me about his city and I tell him about my work. We do not use difficult words, and we repeat short phrases. So we understand each other well and we continue on the path. It is easy.

At one point on the trail, we see a fallen nest. Someone is crying because they feel sad. The guide helps and puts the nest in a safe place. I feel calm pleasure because of the group’s help. My companion looks at me and gives me a smile. Everyone talks a little and listens to the wind among the leaves. At that moment I think about the soul: it is to care and not to hurt. With that thought we continue without noise. That does me good.

When the outing ends, I go home tired but happy. I think about the class and the movie, and I remember the cell and the planet. I also remember the safety and the leadership of the group. Today I feel faith in simple things: walking, learning, and caring. At home I make a hot drink and rest for a while. Then I write two lines to my companion to say “thank you”. Tomorrow I read my notes again and I hope for another outing.
