Un viaggio nei ricordi

“This is my mother, Rosa,” Elena says. “She is fifty-eight years old. She works in a supermarket. She talks to many people every day and she knows all the customers.”

Marco points to a boy with a big smile. “And who is this?” “He is my little brother, Tomás,” Elena says. “He is eighteen years old. He does not work. He still goes to school. In his free time he plays the guitar.”

“You are happy together,” Marco says. “Yes,” Elena answers. “My family is not big, but we are very close. We talk on video call every weekend.”

Marco nods. “Me too. Now I live far away, but I talk with my parents every Sunday. We always have news: work, health, food, small problems.”

They laugh. Two phones, many photos and lots of simple sentences. But now Marco knows Elena’s family better and Elena knows Marco’s family better.
