Un incontro a Roma

The waiter finally brings the food to the table. He walks very slowly. The croissant is warm and the sandwich looks good. “Enjoy your meal!” they say to each other, and they start eating. The food is delicious.

“What color is your cat?” Marco asks. “He is black and white, like a cow!” Giulia laughs. “But he thinks he is a dog. He brings things back!” “Really? What does he bring?” Marco is curious. “Pens! Only blue pens. I don’t know why.”

It is incredible! “Dante is orange and lazy,” Marco says, shaking his head. “He only moves for food. He is round like a ball!” They exchange stories about their cats. Both cats are strange. It is perfect. They have a lot to talk about.

“How long have you worked at the high school?” Marco asks. “For two years. Before, I worked in a museum,” Giulia explains. “But teenagers are more interesting than paintings. They have opinions about everything!” She smiles. “Do the students like your subject?”

Some students love art. They stay after class to paint more. Giulia is proud. “Other students draw little stick people and say ‘Finished!’” She laughs. “But that is okay. Not everyone has to be an artist.” Marco nods. He understands.

The waiter comes back. He moves as if he is under water. “Would you like more drinks?” he asks slowly. Giulia looks at Marco. The afternoon is pleasant. She wants to stay.

“Maybe… wine?” she suggests. Marco smiles. “Good idea! Wine is always a good choice in Rome, after all.”
