Il problema di Violetta con la nuova TV

Luca helps her put the replacement TV in the car. “I’m sorry about the problem,” he says. “This one should be fine.” Violetta says: “I hope so, because I have been here more than enough today.” Luca laughs, and Violetta laughs too. As she returns home, she takes the quieter streets and keeps looking at the time. Her show starts soon.

Back in her apartment, Violetta carries the new box upstairs very slowly. Now she is tired, but also determined. She opens the box, takes out the TV, and puts it on the small table. This time she does not throw away any packaging. She keeps everything in order, just in case. Then she connects the cable, puts the plug into the socket, and takes the remote control. “Please work,” she thinks to herself.

The TV turns on. The welcome screen appears again. Violetta waits. No error message appears. She follows the simple instructions and chooses the language. Then the TV searches for channels. A small line moves slowly across the screen. Violetta stands with her arms crossed and watches it as if it were the most important thing in the world. At last, the channels are ready. She finds the right one and turns up the volume.

There are only five minutes until her favourite show starts. Violetta quickly washes her hands and prepares a simple dinner. She puts some pasta from the day before in a pan and heats it. Then she carries a plate into the living room. She sits on the sofa with a blanket over her legs. The new TV looks great in the room. It is not too big, it is not too small, and the picture is beautiful.

The music of her favourite show begins just as Violetta sits down. She laughs with relief. On the screen, the presenter enters a bright kitchen and begins to talk about an old family recipe. The colours are clear, and the voices sound good. Violetta takes a bite of pasta and relaxes for the first time all day. The stress of the morning now seems far away.

She thinks about the heavy box, the error message, the return trip to the store, and the long climb up the stairs. It was not the simple day she wanted. But the people at the store were kind, and they solved the problem without making things difficult. Now she has a working TV, a quiet evening, and her favourite show in front of her.

Violetta leans back against the sofa and smiles. Buying the new TV was more stressful than she expected, but the end of the day is just as she wanted. The apartment is comfortable, the programme has started, and the new screen works perfectly. Then she enjoys the first real evening with her new television.
