Un nuovo giorno in ufficio

At half past eleven, Sara gets up. “Coffee?” she asks. “Yes, thank you!” Marco answers. They go to the small kitchen, where there is a coffee machine and a basket with biscuits. Marco has never been a big coffee drinker, but now he discovers that coffee helps him stay focused.

Two other colleagues are already there and are talking about a football match from the night before. Marco does not know all the players, but he listens. “Do you like football?” one of the colleagues asks him. “A little,” Marco says. “I prefer basketball, but I like watching important matches.”

After lunch, Marco works on his part of the report. He needs some data from Sara, so he goes to her desk. “Sara, can you help me?” he asks. “I need last month’s numbers.” “Of course,” she answers. She sends him a file and explains a small detail. Marco thanks her and goes back to his desk.

In the afternoon, he sends a draft of his work to the manager with a short email: “Here is the first version of my part. Please tell me if I have to change anything.”

At half past five, Marco turns off the computer.

The manager walks near his desk and says, “Good work today.” Marco feels a warm satisfaction.

On the way home, he thinks about his day: the meeting, the coffee break, the email. Step by step, the office feels more and more familiar to him.
