Una visita dal parrucchiere

The hairdresser nods. “It is okay, a bit shorter, only the ends. Same style, without a fringe,” she repeats to be sure. Lisa smiles. “Yes, exactly.”

The hairdresser sprays a little water on Lisa’s hair and starts to cut. Small pieces of hair fall on the floor. Lisa looks at herself in the mirror. At first she is a bit nervous, but the hairdresser is calm and talks about the weather and the city.

After a while, the hairdresser steps back. “What do you think?” she asks. “Do you want it shorter, or is it fine like this?”

Lisa looks at herself in the mirror. Her hair is lighter and looks healthy. “I like it,” she says. “It’s perfect. Not too short.”

The hairdresser dries Lisa’s hair and puts a little cream in her hair.

Then she takes off the cape and shakes Lisa’s hair from her shoulders. “We have finished,” she says. “Follow me, you can pay at the till.”

Lisa pays, thanks the hairdresser and puts on her coat. When she goes out into the street, she feels different: a bit more confident and, in some way, a bit more at home. She looks at herself in the reflection of a shop window and smiles at her own image. She is happy with her new haircut.
